Following yet another financial report where Ubisoft was forced to reveal further declining sales, the company has revealed that Rainbow Six Siege is getting a huge new update, and being renamed Rainbow Six Siege X.
This year mark’s Siege’s 10th anniversary (Are you kidding me!? Ten years!? I feel old) and to celebrate Ubisoft will release what it describes as the game’s “biggest transformation” ever, promising “”new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, and major upgrades all around!”
The teaser trailer seems to hint at a few possibilities as to what this upgrade might bring: more freedom while repelling, including running on walls; helicopter spawn points; explosions chaining, and more. These are not confirmed features, just things in the trailer that seem to be getting deliberately teased.
While Ubisoft is currently a company in deep trouble, Rainbow Six Siege continues to be a success, a live-service title that has managed to keep drawing in a fairly sizeable audience. A quick glance at SteamDB shows it drawing in over 50,000 concurrent players consistently at the moment. Of course, that isn’t counting the console players.
Ubisoft says Raindow six Siege X will get a proper reveal at March 13 at the Siege X Showcase.
