Zero Dawn Remastered announced for PS5 at State of Play – WGB

Must Read

Yes, it’s real! After numerous leaks and rumours, Sony revealed Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered during their latest State of Play.

The new edition of the game is scheduled to launch for PS5 and PC on October 21 and promises several enhancements designed to bring it up to Horizon: Forbidden West’s graphical quality.

The game will also apparently include over 10 hours of newly recorded mocap, along with full Dualsense support. There will also be improved camera angles, which will hopefully make conversations a little more interesting.

“Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered launches on October 31. The captivating story and awe-inspiring post-apocalyptic world returns alongside a host of technological improvements, visual enhancements, and upgraded features. It also includes The Frozen Wilds content, a vast expansion featuring additional lands, skills, weapons, and machines.” says Jan-Bart van Beek, Studio Director and Studio Art & Animation Director at Guerrilla

“Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered features over 10 hours of re-recorded conversation, mocap and countless graphical improvements that bring the game to the same visual fidelity as its critically acclaimed sequel Horizon Forbidden West. The game’s lush world includes frozen mountains, dense jungles, and arid deserts with stunning new visuals and 4K graphics and travelling between settlements is now lightning-fast.”

The good news is that anyone who owns the original game can pick up the newly remastered edition of Horizon: Zero Dawn for £9.99/$9.99. If you don’t already own it, you can snag the new version for $49.99

What we get to see of the game in the trailer does indeed look bloody gorgeous – hardly surprising, as Horizon: Forbidden West is arguably one of the best-looking games on console.

That said, a remaster of Horizon: Zero Dawn feels…well, a little pointless. Still, remastering titles seems to be the current Sony strategy and it has paid off for them in the past with the likes of The Last of Us Chapter 2’s upgrade.

And honestly, for £10 I’m actually quite tempted to pick the upgrade up as an excuse to play through Zero Dawn again.
