Let me preface this by saying all information here should be taken with a large spoonful of salt as the leaker in question is using a throwaway account.
Aptly named Helldivers_Throaway, a Reddit user is claiming to have seen a new trailer for upcoming Helldivers 2 content, although they do not elaborate on how they had access to said trailer.
The user goes on to describe what they saw in the trailer, revealing that a new faction and “even cars” will be getting added to the game.
The new faction is likely be the Illuminate, which has been teased in Helldivers 2 since…well, pretty much since the game launched at the start of the year. The Illuminate hype really reached a peak months ago as more and more strange things began to occur, hinting at their arrival. However, developer Arrowhead ended up having to do massive rebalancing work and it seems the new faction was pushed back because of it, despite it being claimed that they already exist within the game’s files.
The throwaway account adds that the new content is dubbed Omens of Tyranny, and that the trailer ends with a message saying “Out Now” which leads the poster to believe that the content could be available this week or next.
Of course, The Game Awards are just days away now, and such a big event would certainly be an idea place for Sony and Arrowhead to drop a major new expansion for Helldivers 2.
Oddly despite the immense player numbers the game drew and its ongoing success, Helldivers 2 did not get nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards. It is however, up for Best Ongoing Game of 2024.
Finally, the user says they are happy to contact the subReddit’s moderators to provide more information to help support their claims. Thus far though, no moderator has chimed in to say whether the information appears to be real or not.
