Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has resigned after his viral appearance at a Coldplay concert outside Boston.
The tech company announced the resignation on Saturday in an X post.
Earlier this week, a viral TikTok recording of a jumbotron appeared to show Byron and the company’s head of human resources, Kristin Cabot, embracing and then hiding when they realized they were on the stadium’s ‘kiss cam.’
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” the company said on Saturday. “The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”
On Friday, the company said Byron had been placed on leave and it had started a formal investigation into the matter.
The video amassed almost 9 million views on TikTok and has become a viral meme. Brands like Netflix and Tesla also weighed in on the incident, using it as a marketing tool.
“Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI,” Astronomer said on Saturday. “While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not.”
