Whynter Ice Cream Maker
Okay, full disclosure: I am not buying this for myself. That’s because I already own a slightly larger version of this machine that I absolutely love. But I am going to give it to someone as a gift. If you don’t know the deal with compressor ice cream makers it is this: They are the ones that don’t require you to pre-freeze a bowl before you want to make ice cream. They use similar tech to what’s in your fridge and freezer to chill down the ice cream base in real time. That means you can make multiple batches, back-to-back, and you don’t need to plan ahead. I am, at times, a lousy planner, so the ability to drop my ice cream right in the machine is an invaluable plus. —Noah Kaufman
New kitchen towels
I refresh my kitchen towels every year on Amazon Prime Day. The burned, stained, and torn flour sack towels get relegated to bathroom cleaning, and in comes a fresh new set for the kitchen. These utilitarian guys can be used for drying your hands, yes, but they’re also a powerful kitchen tool. Use them to dry herbs, to grab hot pans, and to shape and cover dough. And that’s not all. They’re essentially washable cheese cloths: wrap tofu, shredded zucchini, or beets in these things and squeeze all of the moisture out for maximum crisp. New blenders
I haven’t owned a full sized blender since I was in college, and I think I’ve finally reached a breaking point with my dinky little 10-year-old bullet-style model. Vitamix is the biggest name in blenders for a reason, and I have my eyes on their Explorian model for its low profile and lower price tag than some of their other models (even lower now at over $100 off). I do still love a bullet blender for my morning smoothies though, so I’m swapping my current model for the one that associate commerce director Emily Johnson raves about. —Alaina Chou
A top immersion blender
If I could have only one blender, it would be an immersion blender. They’re so versatile and convenient, and even some of the more affordable models do a great job of blending and pureeing. Still, I’m ready for an upgrade, so I’m thrilled to see this powerful Vitamix model on sale. I’ve already added it to my cart. —Emily Farris
A mini food processor
While I already have a full-sized food processor (inherited from my grandma and probably from the 1980s), it’s kind of a pain to take out and is often too big for the tasks my solo cooking endeavors require of it. This Prime Day I’ve got my eyes on a mini version that will be perfect for all my small batch pestos, nut butters, and summer gazpachos. Plus it comes in a pistachio green that’ll match my set of KitchenAid mixing bowls (which, btw, are also on sale). —AC
A grill-side hammock
This summer I made a big change to my outdoor cooking routine: I got the WiFi-enabled Konnected Joe from Kamado Joe, which means I no longer have to post up in a lawn chair next to my grill when I want to cook something low and slow on a Sunday afternoon. To celebrate this major life upgrade, I’m buying one of Yellow Leaf’s handwoven hammocks. They’re UV-safe, expand to the same width as a Queen-sized bed, and are made from soft, weatherproof yarn. I’ll be spending the rest of summer lounging here while I monitor my Campo Grande pork shoulders and rib racks from an app on my phone. —Carina Finn
A less-splurgy-than-usual espresso maker
I need a new coffee maker and for the last few months have been teetering on the edge of splurging on an espresso machine, but didn’t want to commit because of the cost. Prime Day sales do lessen the sticker shock though, and that 27% off isn’t looking too shabby —Megan Wahn
Insulated espresso cups
Yes, we’re all obsessed with that Big Dumb Cup, but what about Small Dumb Cups? I’ve coveted these mini Yeti cups ever since my coworker Carina first sipped from one on a Zoom call. I have a well documented problem drinking coffee fast enough before it gets cold. I know, espresso is a very small quantity of liquid deliberately designed to be taken in a single gulp. I’m a sipper! I’m sorry! These combine my love of all things mini and insulated cups, and they’re 20% off now. —EJ
A tablet for the kitchen
This, on the other hand, is something I’m going to get for myself. Like a lot of you, I use the recipes on bonappetit.com for dinner a lot. I don’t own a tablet and it’s been a minor nightmare to read recipes on my phone or leave my laptop on the counter while I work. Smart home devices don’t really work for what I need because navigating to a specific website, which I absolutely need to do, is either very hard or actually impossible. But this reasonably-sized tablet will serve nicely as my digital cookbook.
An air purifier
My kitchen doesn’t have the best air circulation, so smells tend to linger long after I’ve done the dishes and cleared the table. As much as I love my house to smell like food, sometimes it can be a bit much. After more fragrant meals I like to move my air purifier into the kitchen to freshen things up faster, but now that this purifier is on sale for Prime Day I’ve decided to spring for a full-time kitchen air purifier. That way, I don’t have to lug my other one from room to room. The Levoit purifier is small but powerful, capable of filtering over 1000 square feet of space. —Wilder Davies
A way to perfect pellet ice
For years I’ve made do with freezer ice trays. But the fact is, ice cube trays are flawed. They spill, causing icebergs to form on the bottom of my freezer; they take up valuable real estate (I honestly would love it if all of my cabinets were freezers); and my partner never remembers to refill them. Next time he asks for an after-work drink, instead of glaring at him passive-aggressively, I’d love to amble over to our countertop ice maker, scoop, shake, and relax into the evening. The thing is, the good ones are eyebrow-raisingly expensive. I’m going to need a deep Prime Day discount to justify the purchase. —Joe Sevier
The next best thing to an actual ice maker
In my dream world I own our top tested G.E. Opal ice maker and enjoy crunching on an endless supply of nugget ice on the daily. But this is not my dream world, and instead I plan to make do with this ice tray that releases cubes into a drawer compartment that, if I close my eyes, will let me pretend I’m scooping ice from a fancy machine. —AC
A wireless charger that also hold your phone while you’re cooking
I already have this Courant multi-device charging stand in my home office, but I’m buying a second for my kitchen while it’s on sale. It works great as a phone-holder so I can follow along with my favorite BA recipes while I’m cooking, and it can charge two MagSafe devices at once. It’s also chic and space-efficient—two nonnegotiables for anything that goes into my kitchen. —CF
The best trash can in the biz
Is everyone aware that a not-on-sale, high-quality kitchen trash can will run you $100 to $200? I, for one, didn’t know this until a couple of weeks ago, when I decided it was time to upgrade from the cheap plastic can I’ve owned for half a decade. I really want something that is well-built, odor-containing, and nice-looking. People on the internet (including my coworkers) say this shiny stainless-steel Simplehuman trash can is where it’s at. The 50-liter version has been sitting in my cart for days thanks to my reluctance to spend so much money on something that holds trash, but having this baby in my kitchen would be a dream—and there’s no better time than Prime Day to finally take the plunge (and score it at a discount). —Tiffany Hopkins
An induction burner
I have a sub-par electric rental stove, so I’m always flirting with the idea of getting an induction burner and pretending I’m cooking for one of those hands-and-pans Buzzfeed videos of a bygone internet era. A beach tent
I love a beach day as much as the next person. I love packing a bunch of sandwiches, sipping on a hard iced tea, and taking periodic dips into the frigid water. The problem is that my delicate dermis fries like a pork crackling under the blistering hot sun, so I need to do a lot to prevent that. Typically, I rely on a wide brimmed had, several layers of sunscreen and a big white sheet to wrap around my body, but when I saw this on sale I decided to finally upgrade to a proper beach tent.
