Alone in the Dark 2 emulated port appears on PlayStation store, likely joining Premium – WGB

Must Read

It looks like Alone in the Dark 2 from 1996 will be joining PlayStation’s growing library of classic games running on the company’s new emulation software.

As spotted by TURBO_THUNDER on Reddit, the game appeared on PSDeals.net which tracks the backend of the PlayStation Store. The game is listed as being an emulation and contains a link to the PlayStation store, although it currently leads to an error page.

Assuming this accurate, Alone in the Dark 2 will most likely be announced as a Premium game on Wendsday when the next wave of  PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium catalogue titles are announced.

Notably, Alone the Dark is yet another game from Embracer. I’m idly wondering if there’s some sort of formal deal in place between Embracer and Sony to keep supplying games for the PlayStation catalogue, or if it’s just because Embracer are eager to make a little bit of money from its huge collection of IP.

Whatever the reason, it’ll be good to see Alone in the Dark 2 hit the service. I remember trying to play it multiple times as a kid, and quitting every time because it was too scary. Let’s just hope this latest addition will be available al la carte and have a Platinum trophy, unlike a few of the other emulated games that have popped up.
