Chappell Roan has revealed why she yelled “shut the f–k up” to a photographer while posing for pics on the VMAs 2024 red carpet.

The 26-year-old — who came home with a shiny award for Best New Artist — initially turned away from the flashing lights as she tried to primp her medieval outfit before posing for snaps.

But while getting ready, she quickly turned around and cursed at a cameraman.

The “Red Wine Supernova” hitmaker went on to point at herself before telling the paparazzi “not me b–h.”

“For someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying, and I yelled back,” she explained to Entertainment Tonight. “You don’t get to yell at me like that.”

The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer admitted that she was “nervous” ahead of her first VMA performance during a red carpet interview.

“There are a lot of technical things going on that I’ve never had happen, but we’ve practiced so many times. I feel like this is the next step in my career, so I was like, ‘Dang, OK, it feels good to be here,’” she said.

Despite raising eyebrows with her heated exchange on the carpet, singer Noah Kahan threw his support behind Roan.

“I’ll never forget leaving Clive Davis and the horrific s–t photographers and paparazzi or whatever were saying to me in front of my sweet mom who couldn’t believe it was actually happening. Love this @ChappellRoan way to stand up for yourself,” Kahan wrote on X.

At the star-studded awards ceremony, Roan treated fans and celebs to a fiery performance of her summer hit “Good Luck, Babe” before accepting the Best New Artist Award.

In her acceptance speech, the singer read an excerpt from her diary.

“I dedicate this to all the drag artists who inspire me,” Roan said while giving a shout out to “the gays who dedicate my song to someone they love, or hate.”

Prior to her big win, the singer said she’s never taken home an award before.

“I have never won anything so that would be awesome. It’s going to be cool,” Roan said on the red carpet.

The musician received four nominations, including Best New Artist, Push Performance of the Year for “Red Wine Supernova,” Best Trending Video for “Hot To Go!,” and Song Of Summer for “Good Luck, Babe!”
