We’re all well aware that cut-off jean shorts are a bit of a polarizing thing in this day and age, but when paired with elevated pieces, dated they are not, and I say this with conviction. If you’re skeptical, I have a recent Dua Lipa outfit to present to you that proves my point.
Dua Lipa was in NYC last week and was spotted exiting Electric Lady Studios. Her outfit for the recording session (just a guess that’s what she was doing there) was casual, but it included thoughtful touches that made it look cool—cut-off denim shorts and all. The two pieces, in particular, that made a significant impact on the outfit were the white long-sleeve T-shirt, a basic trend that fellow It girls such as Hailey Bieber are embracing in 2026, and her ballet flats. The shoes were Chanel’s Coco Beach 2026 ballet flats, to be exact, a beloved style that the fashion house wisely brought back from the archives. As expected, fashion people are clamoring for the oversized logo-emblazoned leather flats.
