It looks like Resident Evil 6 is being ported to the Xbox Series consoles, according to a new rating on the ESRB website. A PS5 version is very likely to emerge.
The game was released in 2012 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and was later ported to Xbox One and PS4 in 2016 alongside Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. That last port included some graphical enhancements.
Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 were then ported once again, this time to the Switch in 2019.
This new rating indicates Capcom is planning on yet another port of Resident Evil 6. While there’s no mention of it being a remaster or including any upgrades, it would be weird to port it over to Xbox Series (and hopefully PS5) without any form of upgrade since the existing Xbox One and PS4 versions are backwards compatible and easily found.
If Resident Evil 6 is being put onto modern hardware, it raises the question of whether Resident Evil 5 might join it, too.
And finally, with the Nintendo Switch 2 now officially looming on the horizon, it makes sense that Capcom may want to port the game there as well.
